By Ed Lojko, on July 19th, 2011 Just over 14 years ago Seminole County completed a study of the traffic running through Sanlando Estates. As you will see in the document linked below, in 1997 our streets needed to register 800 vehicles per day apiece before Seminole County would attempt any type of abatement. I don’t know how they came up with that standard but it certainly seems high for Oak and Gum Streets where pedestrians share the road and residences are the only destinations.
Now that the Hwy 434 construction has been finished for a while it does seem like the cut-throughs have fallen off somewhat. I can speak for Gum St. however and say that when school is in session the “Escalade Parade” backs up almost all the way to the curve from North St. in the morning on the way to the Annunciation School frequently preventing me from exiting my driveway. Additionally we have picked quite a bit of cut-through traffic going to and from the busy LA Fitness in the strip mall over on Montgomery Rd.
If you have any noteworthy observations or complaints regarding traffic here in the Sanlando Estates neighborhood please describe them for us here in this blog using the comment feature.

By Ed Lojko, on June 12th, 2011 Dear Readers,
It’s been a while since my last article so I thought I would update the SanlandoEstates.info software before beginning a new effort to report the neighborhood news. Alas, the update did not go well and, as you may have noticed, messed up most of the existing pages and let us with some broken features. Do not fret. I am working diligently to solve the problems and get back to writing the finest blog in Sanlando Estates. In the mean time, please continue to send in your questions, gripes, and story requests.
Thanks Much,
Ed Lojko

By Ed Lojko, on July 16th, 2010 I’m sure most of you neighbors have experienced attempting to turn up SR434 towards Sanlando Estates from I4 eastbound off ramp and encountered traffic on westbound 434 completely blocking the intersection. For some unknown reason, over the past 20 years or so, law enforcement has completely failed to show up to police this intersection. If you have seen traffic enforcement happening there please drop me an email or leave a comment here in the blog.
The future may be better at this interchange because of planned reconstruction work. As part of upgrading I4 from Central Pkwy to about 1.6 miles past SR 434 the Florida DOT is going to modify the intersection.
Drawing of Planned Changes at I4/SR434
Download a complete drawing of the planned work here. ( 8MB, http://www.sanlandoestates.info/cabinet/242592-3_exhibit_12-02-09.pdf) Thanks to the Florida DOT project engineer for providing the drawing.
This project is awaiting funding to begin. I have been unable to find any information regarding the disposition of the funding and will post an update when when I have news.

By Ed Lojko, on May 19th, 2010 I came across a slide show that I made of the aftermath of tropical storm Fay back in August, 2008. I still enjoy watching it and I thought that you might too. Take a look. Click the PLAY button.
WESH.com still has the coverage of the storm on their website. See coverage here.
By Ed Lojko, on December 28th, 2009 If you have ever found yourself wondering about the “laws” here in Seminole County today may be your lucky day as I am about to reveal how you can read them yourself!
These “laws” are called the county “code” and are in addition to any state laws that may apply to us here in Seminole County. The Seminole County Code defines the rules and regulations that we must abide by in our daily lives. The “code” covers everything from land development and trash collection to traffic regulation and you pet dog.
Here is an example of what you can find in our county code:
Sec. 175.1. Interference with officers or employees.
It shall be unlawful for any person to interfere with, hamper or obstruct any county officer or employee who is lawfully engaged in the lawful performance of his duties.
(SCC, § 11-1, 9-27-77)
DO NOT mess with your water meter reader!
You may think I am joking but I actually enjoyed reading through the Seminole County Code and now I know exactly what I must avoid in order to be a model citizen. I am now passing this opportunity along to you. Click -Here- to view the Seminole County Codes. Enjoy!
